I sit here tonight with a mother's broken heart. I have often thought of how I would act, what I would say, or what I would do if I found myself in this situation. I can say that I have had none of those actions, sayings, or doings take place since the death of my precious gift. God loaned David and I JD 18 years ago to take care of until He needed him back. He decided it was time yesterday. I know without any doubt that JD was born to be a living testimony for God in this world of turmoil that we are living in. I believe his life wasn't about baseball, or God would have let him continue that path. His life was about getting his name out there to reach many, and that he did. As I go through my timeline I am in awe of the kind things you all have said about David's and my son. I keep seeing things like "his smile", "his sense of humor", and "his love for people". That means so much to a mother to know how her son was loved! JD was an amazing kid, and we are thankful for the 18 years God blessed us with. JD is not hurting or feeling any sorrow. He's in Heaven playing video games and baseball and waiting on us all to meet him there. Please, if you do not know God take the time to get to know him now and ask Him into your heart. Without God's grace I could not find peace in my child's death. I miss him tonight so badly, and I will miss him until the day I meet him in Heaven, but don't cry for me or JD. He is at home! Thank you all for your kind words and pictures. I will look back on them often. I love you all!

I, Michael Stokes, wrote a story for graduating seniors in 2015 that included JD and was even inspired by JD, He had been in a Bible study group called Sons of Faith I taught a couple of years earlier. One of our studies was on King David and the trials he encountered yet God called him "a man after my own heart." In my story for graduates I included a quote I heard JD make on the radio concerning our high school baseball team of which he was an integral part. They had completed a round of competition and were moving on to the next round. In the interview he said "we are still writing our own story." Yes, win or lose, success or failure, we are still writing our own stories. Now what is your story going to be...
